What is Step Up for Israel?
STEP UP FOR ISRAEL is an international, grassroots campaign that connects individuals and communities to Israel through easy-to-use, high quality courses, innovative films and activist opportunities. Step Up For Israel aims to create broad awareness of the growing movement to delegitimize Israel, and to motivate people of all ages to learn about Israel and to step up on behalf of Israel. An initiative of Jerusalem U, the campaign is chaired by renowned Middle East experts Professor Alan Dershowitz and Ambassador Dore Gold. There are three basic steps:
Why is it important to Step Up?
There is a disturbing and growing movement, particularly on college campuses, that doesn’t only question Israel’s actions, but challenges and refutes Israel’s very right to exist. Too many young people, the future of our country, are being exposed to this malicious, coordinated effort to delegitimize the State of Israel. Today, the front line isn’t only in Israel — now it runs through every city, university, office and living room in America. That’s why the support of leaders like you is so crucial to Israel and the Jewish people.
Who created this campaign?
Step Up for Israel is a special initiative of Jerusalem U.* *Imaginations Productions, Inc does business as JerusalemU.org. It is a 501(c)3 organization committed to teaching and inspiring people of all ages about Israel and Judaism through an array of engaging online film classes featuring powerful and entertaining content that is presented by the world’s finest educators, with state-of-the-art production techniques.

Israel is under assault on North American college campuses today like never before. Anti-Israel activities to alienate, demonize, and delegitimize Israel are increasingly crossing the line into anti-Semitism, in the form of hate speech, harassment and intimidation. Crossing the Line 2: The New Face of Anti-Semitism on Campus is a new documentary that reveals the rise of anti-Israel activity and anti-Semitic rhetoric on North American university campuses, and demonstrates when reasonable criticism of Israel ‘Crosses the Line’ into anti-Semitism.   • Spark conversation about Israel with family, friends and colleagues at events, synagogues, organizations etc.
  • Motivate the community to advocate on Israel’s behalf
Who can host a screening?
Anyone! Screenings can be, and have been, hosted in private homes, schools, synagogues, community centers, cinemas, and more.
What does it cost?

What will I need to host a screening?
  • A Venue: It can be a living room, synagogue, congregation, community center, library, school, theather, etc. As long as it ica nbe darkened and is comfortable you can show the film there!
  • A television or digital projection system and a screen, sound system, DVD player or computer, and an adapter wire: Many schools, synagogues and community centers already have this equimpment (LCD projectors, for example, or built-in sound systems). Others will let you borrow or rent cheaply. The sound system can be any decent stereo big enough for the room you are using. The screen can even be a blank white wall or a well-stretched white sheet.
Where do I get materials for a screening?
After you register to host a screening you will receive a copy of the film and access to our Online Screening Kit, which includes:
  • Suggested wording for the invitation, which you can customize.
  • Suggested pre- and post-screening speeches
  • Discussion topics for follow-up sessions
